This video was created to aid in familiarizing new employees with the revenue cycle. Needs assessment revealed that a clear and concise explainer was needed to build a foundation for onboarding employees who were unfamiliar with what the revenue cycle is in a healthcare setting. Before this video, a PowerPoint slide deck was used in ILT courses and instructors had to walk through the content themselves. Since creating this video, it has been used in many onboarding programs within the Revenue Cycle, and it has saved many hours in ILT's. I created this video using Vyond for the video and WellSaid labs for the narration.

Project: Inpatient Medicaid Variances

I created this course when a needs assessment revealed that employees needed to better understand why and how Medicaid variances occur. I created this course in Storyline, since interactivity was important to make the content "sticky" for users; it is also the best tool for interactive software demonstrations (unfortunately, those have been censored from the demo video due to CBI). I also included a Vyond video in this course that I created to better equip learners with an understanding of DRG codes, variances, etc. by utilizing an analogy that learners could understand. Although parts of the course have been censored, I think this course demonstrates my command of Storyline well.

Project: Redesigned Patient Portal

For this project, I teamed up with our Center for Digital Health team to create an educational video showing patients how to use the newly-redesigned patient portal. To plan the video, I conducted a needs assessment to determine what elements of the portal had changed significantly. From there, I scripted out the video and then produced it using a combination of Vyond and Camtasia.

Project: Patient Portal Promotional Video

This video was the first step in my collaboration with the Center for Digital Health for my Redesigned Patient Portal project. The stakeholders requested a promotional video to help drum up enthusiasm and buy-in for the new patient portal. To create this video, I used two Adobe After Effects templates from Envato Elements and grabbed screenshots from our prototype portal. I added upbeat music to help further the excitement conveyed in the video.

Project: How to Read an Explanation of Benefits (EOB)

This Rise course was created when a needs assessment revealed that employees were not properly understanding EOB's and they had no central resource to turn to for guidance. I created this course in Rise, since this was a quick-turnaround project. I included a few Storyline blocks in the course to add additional interactivity, since this is a limitation of Rise. I also used Adobe Illustrator to build this course; in the "Understanding an EOB" section, I built the example claim form because I wasn't finding a suitable image from our asset libraries. In the original course, I also built animated .gifs  in Camtasia to show users how to navigate to an EOB in both Professional Billing and Hospital Billing Epic environments, but because of our Confidential Business Information policy, I had to exclude those .gifs from this example.

Motion Graphics

Below are a couple of motion graphics I’ve recently created using Adobe AfterEffects. On the left is a refreshed logo reveal for my team at Mayo Clinic, and on the right is a short introductory animation I used for a Learning Objectives slide in a recent course.
